The heart of your campaign story
The Case for Support is arguably the most important document you’ll create for your campaign. It’s written for prospective donors, with their motivations, values, and questions in mind. Its job is simple: make the case.
When done right, your Case becomes the source for every other campaign material, from the print pieces in your welcome packet to the campaign microsite, from video scripts to board presentations. It gives you a consistent, confident way to communicate your purpose, goals, and invitation to join.
It also helps your team stay aligned. With a clear Case in hand, everyone involved in your campaign can speak in one voice, rallying around one message.

From draft to design, with purpose
We begin with a collaborative workshop and a written draft. The workshop’s goal is to align on your campaign’s core narrative: why now, why this matters, and why it’s worth supporting. From there, we write a first draft that translates your insights and ambitions into clear, donor-facing language.
Once you’ve had the chance to review and respond to the draft, we will refine it together. Then, we move into design, bringing the Case to life through a beautiful and usable format—something you’ll be proud to share.
There are typically two formats we consider: print and digital.
A printable Case for Support can be shared via PDF or produced as a handheld piece. Designed well, it works both ways. It’s often packaged with other campaign collateral and is a valuable tool in personal fundraising meetings.
A digital Case for Support serves as a campaign microsite. It offers more depth and flexibility, providing a living source of truth for evolving language and campaign updates. A digital Case also pairs well with a Campaign Pocket Guide, which can highlight key messages and direct readers to explore more online.
Whichever format we choose, we always tailor the Case to the people it’s meant to reach.

A compelling call to action
An effective Case for Support balances strategy and emotion. It speaks directly to the reader with clarity, confidence, and warmth. The strongest Cases are built on four elements:
- Emotional storytelling that invites readers into a meaningful mission.
- Achievable goals that show your vision is both bold and grounded.
- A picture of success that paints what’s possible with their support.
- A clear invitation to take part in something transformative.
We also recommend incorporating data that shows where you are today and what needs to change. And your visuals should reflect your audience as relatable, real, and rooted in your campaign’s spirit.
If done well, your Case becomes a spark that starts a conversation, leading to a deeper relationship and opening the door for more personalized materials that speak directly to what a donor cares about, whether that’s leaving a legacy or fueling collective impact.
