Challenge

For almost three decades, Trees for the Future has been improving people’s lives in the countries of sub-Saharan Africa, some of the most economically and environmentally challenged places on earth. Using a specific “Forest Garden” planting method, this international nonprofit reinvigorates communities, empowers women, helps families feed themselves and dramatically increases the income of poor farmers. Although they had developed a solid network of long time contributors and corporate sponsors, they were finding it tough to gain traction with newer and younger donors. While their work planting trees yielded powerful outcomes in the world, they didn’t quite know how to tell their story to a broader audience.

Solution

When they turned to Parisleaf, Trees for the Future was unsure of how to move forward. We proposed leveraging their newly purchased domain, Trees.org, into a focused campaign centered around a website designed to educate and engage.

The site we created was a donation based site that could jumpstart contributions in the short term yet have the ability to scale in the future to accommodate new developments. We wanted to talk about the amazing things Trees for the Future was doing in a succinct way as well as provide donors with an effortless donation process. To achieve this we incorporated a software tool that gave them the ability to set up monthly giving, manage individual campaigns, provide metrics and measurement, and easily integrate with their existing database.

Results

Within a month of launching the microsite, Trees.org had collected over $110,000 in donations with the average donation rate at over $300, which is well above average. Their analytics have boasted over 20,000 page views with an average session duration of over 2 minutes and users viewing over 2 pages per session.

Besides crafting a functioning and scalable brand campaign for Trees.org, we audited and edited a vast library of imagery, and created a visual collection of email and social assets for launch and sharing. Trees for the Future is now growing their donor network at a steady rate and in a scale conscious way while making a bigger impact on the lives of the people who need it most.

Upon completion of this project, Parisleaf also launched a donation campaign with Trees for the Future. Together, we’re planting to make a difference. If you wish to help, you can do so here.
