The wide and diverse study of engineering is usually imagined with a very dry and corporate feel. However, when Parisleaf was approached by Helen Goh of UF’s College of Engineering, we were asked to design an event branding that was anything but boring. The event we were working with is hosted annually in order to maintain UF Engineering Alumni relations and provides them with a reason to keep coming back to UF and keep giving to UF as proud and engaged alumni. This year’s theme was intriguing: Leading Innovation through Inclusion. This concept sought to communicate that only through embracing the differences that exist inherently within all of the many different professionals that make up the world of engineering can true innovation be achieved.
Our creative team worked to integrate this idea into the event branding by recognizing innovation as sharp, angular shapes built upon the foundation of the circular and inviting symbols of inclusion. The UF colors were referenced in the spectrum of blue and orange by allowing the cool blue hues to communicate the voice of ingenuity and innovation and the warm inviting orange hues to convey acceptance, understanding and inclusion. In addition, the use of modern geometrical lines were used to criss-cross and connect the two sections, thus illustrating the interconnectedness of these two concepts.
This event branding was so well received, and was represented across all platforms of promotional and collateral material: event badges, mailers, email blasts, programs and light boxes.
